The identity evidence of every resident person in India is known as Aadhaar. It is conclusive evidence of Aadhaar cardholder about his or her profile. UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) was formed about a decade ago in 2009 to do the work of registering the population of the country. The enrollment process is done via thousands of Aadhaar centers set up in various parts of the country. In a very short span of time, we have seen the large population of the country get themselves registered with the UIDAI. Aadhaar card is issued only to those people of India, who are inside the country for at least 182 days in a year. NRI (Non-resident Indian) cannot obtain Aadhaar as they do not fall within the definition of residents as per law.
You can get your Aadhaar card simply by paying a visit to your nearest Aadhar enrollment center. If you want to apply for the Aadhaar card, you must carry the necessary documents that can verify your address and other details. The maximum duration to get an Aadhaar card is 90 days from the date of enrollment application submitted with the UIDAI. Please keep in mind that the enrollment process is 100% free from the Government. The purpose of this is to register as many residents in the UIDAI database as possible on authenticated documents. At the time of Aadhar enrollment, Aadhar center staff will take your biometric and demographic details. The name, date of birth, address of the resident is called demographic data.
On the Aadhaar card, the applicant’s photograph is also affixed. This is the main reason everyone wants a dashing and smart picture there. But sometimes, it happens that your photo does not come well. This is the major grievance among the people. Fortunately, UIDAI has answers to each and every problem and grievance that you may have. If you want to change your photograph, just pay a visit to your nearest Aadhaar enrollment center.
Once you are ready, just visit the nearest Aadhaar enrollment center and ask the executive there that you want to change the photograph of the Aadhaar card. Please keep in mind that this is not a free service and you will have to pay ₹25 plus the GST amount to the executive. The purpose behind charging a fee is that people should not make it a habit to change the photograph on a frequent basis.
Once the executive completes the photo capturing process, please make sure he or she gives you URN slip. By URN, we mean update request number and it is conclusive proof or acknowledgment of the photograph change. You can use this number to know the status of the change. If you want Eaadhaar with the new photo, visit the official UIDAI web portal and download the latest Eaadhaar in digital format. This would be a pdf file that can be opened in any pdf reader.
